Milan
English-speaking psychologist and psychotherapist in Milan
Two practices in the city — Citylife and Bicocca — and the option of working online. I work with anxiety and panic attacks, stress and burnout, relationship and sexual difficulties, and the aftermath of traumatic experience.
What I work with
What people arrive with, in Milan
Difficulties do not change from one city to another, but the context they are lived in does. Milan is a city people arrive in, often alone and often for work, and that shows in the consulting room.
Anxiety
Anxiety rarely arrives on its own: it comes with sleep that does not hold, with a head that will not stop in the evening, with constant checking. In a city where many people arrived recently, it compounds with not yet having a network around you.
Anxiety disordersPanic attacks and agoraphobia
The first attack almost always happens somewhere ordinary, and in Milan that place is often the metro at rush hour. What follows is not fear of the attack itself but the steady narrowing of the routes you are willing to take.
Panic attacks and agoraphobiaStress and burnout
Milan is a city people move to in order to work, which makes it harder to notice when work has stopped leaving room for anything else. The signal that usually orients things is what happens on holiday.
Stress and burnoutRelationship difficulties
How you are in a relationship — what you ask for, what you tolerate, when you withdraw — is not only about a partner. It shows with friends, in families, sometimes at work.
Relationship difficultiesCouples therapy
Many couples here genuinely see each other for an hour in the evening, and that hour ends up holding everything: the logistics, the tension, the decisions. Couples work is about reopening a space to talk without having to resolve it immediately.
Couples therapyTrauma
What has a date, and what does not: a prolonged environment that leaves no single episode to recount. You do not need a clear memory to begin.
TraumaMilan · Citylife
Via Michelangelo Buonarroti 41
Citylife, a few minutes on foot from Buonarroti station on the M1 line.
The easier of the two for anyone working around Fiera, Sempione or the centre, and for anyone coming in from the west.
Milan · Bicocca
Piazza della Trivulziana 4/A
Bicocca, in the university district, a few minutes from Bicocca station on the M5 line.
Street parking is straightforward, which makes it practical for anyone driving in from the north or from outside the city.
Choosing
The fee is the same at both practices. The choice is purely practical.
One hundred euros for forty-five minutes, at either address and online. Neither practice is more expensive than the other, and there is no reason to choose on any basis other than convenience.
It can also change part-way through, if your hours or your commute change. That happens often and involves nothing.
The first step
A first session is there to work out together what is going on
It lasts forty-five minutes and commits you to nothing. I ask the questions — you do not need to arrive prepared, and you do not need to know where to begin.

If coming to the practice is difficult
Online sessions run the same length and cost the same as those in person, on a private platform.
In Milan it is the choice of people whose hours leave no margin, people who live outside the city, and people who at this moment find travelling difficult — which is a clinical matter, not a logistical one.
The first session
Forty-five minutes to understand what we are dealing with: how long it has been going on, in which situations, what you have already tried. I ask the questions.
At the end I tell you what I have understood and what I would propose. It carries no obligation to continue, and it is a full session at the ordinary fee.
Fees
Individual session €100 for forty-five minutes, couple session €130 for sixty. The same at both Milan practices and online. A receipt is always issued, deductible at 19% as a medical expense on traceable payments if you file an Italian tax return.
Languages
I work in Italian and in English. In Milan a substantial proportion of the people I see arrived from another country, and being able to speak in the language you think in changes a great deal.
Making an appointment
WhatsApp is quickest. I reply personally, usually within 24 hours. There is no receptionist at the practices: appointments are arranged in advance.
I have never met two people with the same anxiety. Each course of work begins from the scattered pieces of a history that belongs to one person only.
